Some Environment UPDATES

I jumped back into some old Unreal 4 projects I sorta forgot about. Here's some progress from a few weeks back!..

Here's how they looked before I did a lighting pass and updated the background skydome last week!..

They definitely aren't done yet, but they're getting somewhere finally! More progress to come...

New Tabletop Game: CLASH OF SPEARS!

Because of our growing disappointment with the direction of Games Workshop, my brother and I started pursuing other tabletop miniature wargames.
We stumbled across CLASH OF SPEARS, had our first battle last week, and are officially hooked!..

The original game focuses around the ancient Roman time period, however there are many mods for the game that cover different eras of history, but the game mechanics stay the same...
This gave us some ideas to just do our own thing, create a story around our own world as well as our own waring factions. Thus, the lands of Gelfland and Baneborg were born!..

To sum up a brief history of our created world: Post-apocalyptic (of course), nuclear winter wonderland!
The stories of the last world war that created such devastation have been long forgotten. Thousands of years have passed since humanity's near-extinction. The ruins of the old world are shrouded in myth and mystery. Humankind has been reset, and now exists in a feudal age...

My faction, Baneborg, has invaded the neighboring lands of my brother's faction, Gelfland.
This was our first of many battles to come...

But first things first, here are some pictures of my Baneborgians!..

...And now the battlefield!..

After crossing the ford with my army, I charged my cataphract cavalry at the Gelfland horsemen.
It was a devastating success, as I routed his entire unit. However, that left my lancers completely exposed and exhausted.
Gelfland proceeded to fire volleys of javelins and arrows at them, killing two and forcing the rest to retreat from the loss of fatigue. One of my commander's on horseback attempted to rally but was cut down by the enemy general on a steed of his own. That was my first military blunder!
The infantry then engaged each other at the center of the battlefield while his bowmen stood on the high ground, raining down fire.
He attempted to flank me with his lighter infantry, but I was able to hold him back with my own arrows and a desperate interception by my other commander.
I was finally able to break his infantry line, but by then my remaining spearmen took volley after volley till they were reduced to nothing and fled...

I lost, but I will learn from my mistakes!
Baneborg retreated to fight another day, for the war is not over. It has only just begun!..

Although it didn't go in my favor, I thoroughly enjoyed our game, especially for the first time ever playing. I was very impressed by how tactical it feels. No cheesy rules that you can bend and take advantage of like in some other games we've played 'cough' 40k 'cough'...

Clash of Spears is a tabletop wargame that I would DEFINITELY recommend to others!..
